Is GATE tougher than JEE?

Me: 'Board exams are easy.'
Cricket isn’t the only tough game; the Olympics, Para Olympics, Tennis, Golf, etc., are equally tough. It might just be over-hyped.'
"Sister: 'Gate is easy,' said my sister who scored well in JEE Mains and Advanced but wasn’t happy with her board marks (around 94%, but she didn’t think it was good enough!).
Are miracles real or do they just have natural explanations?
Me: 'Yes, it is,' I agreed.
Me: 'Okay, but why are you so obsessed with comparing these exams? What are you comparing them on?'
Me: 'Now, if Google had a common exam to recruit, which would be tougher: JEE or the Google exam?'

Me: 'Exactly! The same applies to Gate. When people say Gate is tough, they usually mean it’s tough for PSUs. Gate questions might be easier, but the competition is fierce due to limited seats.'

For PSUs or IITs for Masters, Gate is the toughest. For foreign universities, GRE/GMAT is the toughest. For AIIMS, it’s the toughest. For becoming a CA, that’s the toughest for you. Want to join the Indian Forces? NDA/CDS is the toughest. The same goes for SSC-CGL/CHSL/IBPS exams.
Me: 'Everyone agrees JEE is tough. It’s impressive to have such a deep understanding at a young age. But let me ask you, which do you think is tougher, getting into Google/Facebook or IIT?'

Why do most people care so much about what others think? Are they afraid of society norms?
